Daily Message from Reverend Mary White
Good Afternoon and Blessings
I firmly believe that when some in this country are suffering, it affects everyone. The situation over fishing rights by people of the Mi’kmaq First Nations has been escalating. "The Treaty of 1752, signed by Jean Baptiste Cope, described as the Chief Sachem of the Mi'kmaq inhabiting the eastern part of Nova Scotia, and Governor Hopson of Nova Scotia, made peace and promised hunting, fishing, and trading rights."
These rights are now being threatened.
Keep safe, Keep connected.
Blessings and the strength of Love be with you.

Esther 4:14 (NRSV)
For if you keep silence at such a time as this, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another quarter, but you and your father’s family will perish. Who knows? Perhaps you have come to royal dignity for just such a time as this.

For such a time as this we are called.
Not to keep silent but to speak up
for the poor, for the vulnerable
for the homeless, for the hungry
for those persecuted because of race or religion,
for those whose voices are not heard,
whose suffering goes unheeded,
whose rights are violated.
For such a time as this
we are called to take risks,
to stand alongside God’s children
in all those places where voices are silenced
and where hatred kills.
For such a time as this
we are called to keep the hope alive
that light shines in the darkness,
a light that cannot be extinguished,
the light of love.
The love of God with us
for such a time as this.

Prayer Of the Day
Wisdom Spirit
We pray for the people of the Mi’kmaq Nation. So much has been taken from them and now they are fighting for their legal Treaty Rights. Give them the strength and the power to stand against those who are threatening to take away or diminish their rights. Help the mediators and those in authority to come to an understanding of the Treaty of 1752 and do what is right for the Nations. Give us each a supportive voice for those who suffer an injustice and are not being heard. We pray this in the name of our brother, the Prince of Peace.
Amen
