Message from Light of God Ministry • Reverend Mary White
Good Day and Blessings!
A few years ago, Grant and I had the opportunity to experience a multi-cultural training tour. This educational tour lasted a day and took us on a diverse eye-opening understanding of the people sharing this country. The main lesson I took away from this experience was that we are more alike in our religious beliefs and our life desires than we are different. We visited a Muslim Mosque, Sikh Temple, Hindu Temple, Buddhist Temple, and a Jewish Synagogue. Many from our congregation expressed an interest should this tour take place again. I received the following information which may be of interest:

Dear Parents, Families and Friends,
What a beautiful time of year. Produce is ripe, leaves are changing giving us an array of colours to enjoy, and the rains are feeding the earth.
This week both videos include an acknowledgement of the traditional territory of the Tla'amin Nation as well as a discussion about things we are thankful for in lieu of a story.
The Parent Tot video includes the following songs: I Love My Mom, I Love My Dad; If You Are Happy and You Know It; I'm Gonna Shout; Lord Listen to Your Children Praying, and Thank You Lord On This Day.
The Family Fun video is comprised of these songs: All Things Bright and Beautiful; Serve the Lord; Me and Bobby McGee; Thank You, God; and Thank You Lord for Your Blessings on Me.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Kind Regards,
Brenda Pielle

A Simple Guide for Behavior
Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their fault —unless, of course, you want the same treatment. That critical spirit has a way of boomeranging. It’s easy to see a smudge on your neighbour’s face and be oblivious to the ugly sneer on your own. Do you have the nerve to say, ‘Let me wash your face for you,’ when your own face is distorted by contempt? It’s this whole travelling road-show mentality all over again, playing a holier-than-thou part instead of just living your part. Wipe that ugly sneer off your own face, and you might be fit to offer a washcloth to your neighbour.
Poem • Grapes
Excerpt from “Fire and Bread” by Ruth Burgess
You need the grapes
to make the wine
the grapes that grow
together on the same stem
drawing the same life-giving sap
from the vine
tended by the same vinedresser
but growing together
touching
ripened by the same sun.
Together – in a bunch
shielding each other
protecting each other
supporting each other
yet each grape a complete unity
a whole fruit.
These are the grapes
that make the wine
the joy
the celebration –
these grapes that grow
together.
Experience the uplifting, healing and transformative power of prayer.

Please join us this Sunday, October 10th
The Everybody Deserves a Smile project has begun organizing for Christmas 2021. We are asking our congregation to knit socks, toques, and mittens for adults -- partially wool material is best and we will accept purchased items. Sizes medium to extra large are best.
Also we are asking that you gather toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, combs, brushes, and feminine sanitary products--tampons and pads.
When we are ready, invitations will come out to join in making cards and painting bags.
PRAYER
Creating Creator
We thank you for the opportunity we have to contribute to this world, for everyone and everything you created, and for the chance to make a difference.
Restore within us the wonder of love, revitalize in our hearts the opportunity for us to move forward with hope – a people of loving-kindness, dedicated to sharing.
We pray this in the Spirit of Love.
Amen
