Family Fun

February Family Fun • Message from Brenda Pielle

Dear Parents:

It is amazing that we are already in the second month of the new calendar year! I hope that despite the pandemic climate we are living in, that 2021 has had a good start for you. It is nice to see the longer hours of daylight and to feel the promise of spring coming in the near future.

With the current Covid restrictions that require us to spend more time at home, and less time with others, one way people are choosing to adjust is to spend more time engaged in outdoor activities. This is great to see. February is considered heart health month and being outside involved in physical exercise is a great way to take care of the physical muscle that is our hearts, and also to take care of our thoughts and feelings that are sometimes what we think of as our hearts. Activity is great for all parts of ourselves: physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional. It makes me happy to see people walking, cycling, and playing games outside. Snowman making or snowball tossing might even be in the mix this weekend!

I hope your hearts are filled with love as you celebrate a special romantic relationship, or celebrate the love of family. Valentines Day and Family Day will be marked in these different times, and although we cannot have gatherings, in our own homes we can certainly take the time to tell each other how special each person is, and how much each individual is loved.

As you know, there have been sing a long videos provided for you on the Powell River United Church website. I am going to send out an email each week to let you know the names of the songs and stories that will be on each recording. Please let me know if this is useful to you.

This week on the parent tot video you will find: Jesus Loves Me, I’m a Little Teapot, Hush Little Baby, a story book called, Try Again Sally, a song about God’ love sung to the tune of Frere Jaques, and a song about God’s love sung to the tune of The Muffin Man.

On the Family Fun video you will find the following songs: I Am the Light of the World, I Can See Clearly Now, Sunshine on my Shoulders, Draw the Circle Wide, 1 Cor. 13 sung, and the story book, Green Eggs and Ham.

I hope these songs and stories provide you with some time to spend as a family singing along, listening, and capturing some quality time together: www.powellriverunitedchurch.org/family-fun

Sincerely,

Brenda Pielle
