Family Fun Message from Brenda Pielle
Dear Friends:
We have officially started the season of Lent with yesterday being Ash Wednesday. We have forty days to prepare for the celebration of Easter. Sometimes people choose to give something up for Lent such as chocolate or sugar. Others add something into their daily routine for this season. For the past few years I have tried to walk up Valentine Mountain every day during the season of Lent. I think my best record so far was thirty three climbs. It might be fun to talk with your children and youth about something they could do more or less of, during this forty day time frame.
The snow for the family day weekend sure was fun and so pretty to see. This week there are some songs about snow on the parent tot sing a long video. We start out with one verse of “Jesus Loves Me” as a gathering song, followed by “Tweedly Tweedly Dee” (a fifties tune with ‘God loves you’ words inserted), “Snow if Falling”, “Suzy Snowflake”, a story book about a curious rabbit, and closing with “Kum By Ya” sung in the traditional way.
The Family Fun video this week includes: one verse of “I Am the Light of the World” as a gathering song, “Jamaica Farewell”, “A Child is Black, A Child is White”, “Siya Humba – We Are Marching”, a story from “The Best Me I Can Be” series called, “I Am In Charge of Me”, and closing with “Kum by Ya” sung in the fast version.
I hope these songs and stories provide you with some time to spend as a family singing along, listening, and capturing some quality time together: www.powellriverunitedchurch.org/family-fun
