Listen Carefully

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE OF THE DAY FROM REV. MARY WHITE

 LISTEN, LISTEN, LISTEN CAREFULLY!

“Incline your ear, and come to me; listen, so that you may live.”

– Isaiah 55:3

Until Isaiah’s time it was thought that only monarchy mediated the eternal covenant of love and life. Throwing aside this thinking, Isaiah declares, means that there are no barriers. To the goodness, beauty, justice, and bounty that is life in the presence of all that is sacred, all are invited. Come! The invitation, like the breath of life, is without price. Surely we will not turn away for better company. But we must be the ones who listen, listen, listen carefully.

Listen, listen, listen carefully—for the voice of reverence, the whisper of grace, the unexpected footsteps of holiness are as soft as the footfall of the firefly and as strong as the tensile thread of a spider’s web.

“Steeped in Andean thought, the People’s World Conference on Climate Change and Mother Earth’s Rights was a response to what people heard at Copenhagen. The People’s Conference used terms like “living well” to describe a way of life that seeks not to live “better” at the cost of others and nature but to live in harmony with all. These people seek a Universal Declaration of the Rights of Mother Earth and dream of it enshrined in every constitution worldwide.”

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

Recall a time when you felt fully alive. What does it mean to embrace life in all its fullness? Often meaning must be sought. What gives your life meaning?

We have forty days to prepare for the celebration of Easter. It might be fun to talk with your children and youth about something they could do more or less of, during this forty day time frame.

Keep safe, Keep connected.

Blessings and the strength of Love be with you.
