REMAINING FAITHFUL MESSAGE FROM REV. MARY WHITE

Good Afternoon and Blessings

As a member of Powell River Swap and Shop, and someone who supports recycling, I occasionally go online when I am looking to make a purchase. Recently, there was a post about a missing bicycle seat taken from the hospital area. As I continued to read, I was saddened by the following comments from a variety of people:

“Its those people that live nearby in the forest and that other place that are doing the thefts”

“We hate degenerate scum”

“It’s at the crystal palace AKA the government funded crack hotel above QF”

“The Heroin Hilton??”

“That should be painted on the side of the Building”

“If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck... they are all addicts”

Buddhist, Jack Kornfield writes:

“Love creates a communion with life. Love expands us, connects us, sweetens us, ennobles us. Love springs up in tender concern, it blossoms into caring action. It makes beauty out of all we touch. In any moment we can step beyond our small self and embrace each other as beloved parts of a whole.”

Stay connected.

Blessings and the strength of Love be with you.

Reading Galatians 5:22-24

But what happens when we live the Creator’s way? Our Higher Power brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a confidence that a basic sacredness spreads through things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely. Legalism is helpless in bringing this about; it only gets in the way. Among those who believe in a Higher Power everything connected with getting our own way and mindlessly responding to what everyone else calls compulsions is ended for good.

Prayer

Creating Spirit

We are grateful for all we have been gifted throughout our life. Mend the broken attitudes of those in need of transformation. May they be filled with compassion and loving-kindness toward those who are less privileged. This we pray.

Amen
