Time to Shine

Message of Faith from Reverend Mary White

Good Afternoon and Blessings,

As Christians we are followers of Christ, our example in matters of justice and right relations. When it comes to issues of the outcasts, the cliché “what would Jesus do” comes to mind. Well, I don’t know what he would do in our present complex world. But I know what he has done during his short lifespan, and that is to show compassion, loving kindness, feed the hungry and embrace the outcasts. Being the hands and feet of Christ today, we are expected to carry on his unconditional Love and be present to those whom we meet along our life path.

Stay safe. Stay connected.

Blessings and the strength of Love be with you.

Reading • Luke 4:16-21 (MSG)

He came to Nazareth where he had been raised. As he always did on the Sabbath, he went to the meeting place. When he stood up to read, he was handed the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. Unrolling the scroll, he found the place where it was written,

God’s Spirit is on me;
he’s chosen me to preach the Message
of good news to the poor,
Sent me to announce pardon to prisoners
and recovery of sight to the blind,
To set the burdened and battered free,
to announce, “This is God’s time to shine!”

He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the assistant, and sat down. Every eye in the place was on him, intent. Then he started in, “You’ve just heard Scripture make history. It came true just now in this place.”

Prayer

Spirit of Christ

Passed down through generations, we have heard your messages of Love for family, friends, and strangers. May we journey through our life delivering your wisdom and actions. We ask you to remain close to our heart that we may respond justifiably to those reaching out.

We pray this from sincere hearts.

Amen
