Excellent Harmonies

Remaining Faithful with Reverend Mary White

As a child, I often wondered what I would be when I grew up. This wondering came from adults who would pose the obvious question, and I would respond with ‘I want to be a teacher’. But if the priest were visiting, my mother would reply that I wanted to be a nun. In truth, I had no aspirations for being anything in the future which seemed so far away. As I got older, I wasn’t sure that I wanted to grow up. At least, I didn’t want to become like most adults around me with so many worries and concerns about the future. But, as I aged, I came to the conclusion that we never really grow up because life is a continuous cultivating experience.  There is always something to learn about ourselves which encourages new growth.

Stay safe. Stay connected.

Blessings and the strength of Love be with you.

Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life. Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into most excellent harmonies.

Prayer

As we plan and make decisions,

God be our way.

As we learn and ask questions,

God be our truth.

As we grow and as we change,

God be our life.
