Something to Ponder from Reverend Mary White
To some, nurturing triplets is inconceivable. Following Sunday Worship at Willingdon Creek Village, we found a doe with her three fawns grazing in our yard. I named them Small, Medium, and Large. Large, obviously the explorer, drifted away and out of sight of the Mama who without paying attention to the drifter, continued to feed. She walked over to Small and began to groom her while Medium was feasting on the flora. Several minutes had passed when the Mama, seeming unconcerned, slowly followed the path of Large who had disappeared around some tall hedges. Obediently, Medium and Small scurried behind her. May we continue to appreciate God’s loving, creating works that surround us.
Reading • Habakkuk 3:17-19 (MSG)
Though the cherry trees don’t blossom
and the strawberries don’t ripen,
Though the apples are worm-eaten
and the wheat fields stunted,
Though the sheep pens are sheepless
and the cattle barns empty,
I’m singing joyful praise to God.
I’m turning cartwheels of joy to my Savior God.
Counting on God’s Rule to prevail,
I take heart and gain strength.
God makes me like a deer, which does not stumble.
I feel like I’m king of the mountain!
Prayer
May birds fill the dawn of your day with song,
may the nurturing deer grace your day
may the midday sun caress your face with warmth,
may honeysuckle scent the evening breeze around you
and may the summer stars shine bright above you.
And may Creator God,
the giver of summer mothering, song and scent,
the Creator of the sun and stars,
touch your life with beauty
and fill your heart with joy.
Amen
