Rememberance

Something to Ponder

Whether hurtful or joyful, a touch, a smell, a taste, a visual, a sound brings to us memories of some life experience. Our memories give us learning opportunities that help us to survive and be the people we are meant to be as healthy, loving contributors to our world. Memories define who we are and whose we are and are a gift from our Higher Power.

Stay safe. Stay connected.

Blessings and the strength of Love be with you.

 Reading Excerpt from “Anam Cara”

One of the great poverties of our modern culture of rapidity, stress, and externality is that there is so little attention to memory. The computer industry has hijacked the notion of memory. To say that computers have memory is false. A computer has storage and recall. Human memory is, however, more refined, sacred, and personal. Memory has its own inner selectivity and depth. Human memory is an inner temple of feeling and sensibility. Within that temple different experiences are grouped according to their particular feeling and shape. Our time suffers from a great amnesia. The American philosopher Santayana said, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

Prayer

Giver of Our Days

You who are always there in our moments, awaken our heart and mind to be more alive in our daily living. May we be mindful of our surroundings and appreciate the accomplishments of each task no matter how trivial or expansive they may be. May the labour we perform be the work that shares the Creator’s own life, which is one of love flowing out towards all creation. We pray for the power and strength to be more attentive to life. Keep us from distractions, we pray.’

Amen
