SPIRITUAL MESSAGE FROM REVEREND MARY WHITE
Good Afternoon and Blessings,
Statistics Canada found that religion was becoming less important for Canadians overall. United Churches across Canada are closing at a rate of approximately one per day. Given the effects of COVID on society in general, it’s easy to understand how our religious participation is affected. When considering the climate of the involvement with the church, we must admit that there was decreasing interest prior to this pandemic. Some would say that COVID was the catalyst that hastened the obvious. There are those in society who remain in denial about a decline in religious involvement and look to blame someone; those who believe that we can fix the situation; and those who are willing to adapt to changes that are inevitable. Religion has been lost to a whole generation, but this does not negate the fact that we are spiritual beings. We at Powell River United are committed to offering a variety of spiritual considerations to enhance your experience with your Higher Power.
Stay safe. Stay connected.
Blessings and the strength of Love be with you.

Reading • John 21:3-6 (MSG)
Simon Peter announced, “I’m going fishing.”
The rest of them replied, “We’re going with you.” They went out and got in the boat. They caught nothing that night. When the sun came up, Jesus was standing on the beach, but they didn’t recognize him.
Jesus spoke to them: “Good morning! Did you catch anything for breakfast?”
They answered, “No.”
He said, “Throw the net off the right side of the boat and see what happens.”
They did what he said. All of a sudden there were so many fish in it, they weren’t strong enough to pull it in.
Prayer
Spirit of Love
Remain within us as we discern who we are and whose we are. May we as church throw our nets on the other side as we explore new ways to enhance our spiritual being. May our life continue to be complete within the context of community, sometimes at a distance we can remain connected. We pray this in the realm of faith, hope, and love.
Amen
