Devotion and Surrender

Message from LIGHT OF GOD MINISTRY

 CELEBRATING THE NEW SEASON

This Sunday we celebrate the second Sunday of Lent.

This Sunday holds a deep meaning and message for those who are devoted to Christ. It is a reminder of the sacrifice and love He gave for our spiritual liberation. It is a time to reflect on our own ego’s shortcomings and limitations, and to seek forgiveness and renewal through the grace and love of God.

The story of Jesus transfiguration on this day reminds us that God's love and power are always present in our lives, even in times of struggle and darkness. Jesus' transformation before his disciples shows us that we too can be transformed by the power of God, if we have faith and surrender to his will.

As we journey through Lent, let us use this time to deepen our relationship with the Higher Power, to seek forgiveness and guidance, and to commit ourselves to following the inner path revealed by Jesus Christ. Let us pray for the strength to resist fear and ignorance and to live in accordance with God's will, so that our lives may be renewed and transformed by his love.

Through the power of our devotion and surrender, may it be so.

With Love,
Light of God

YOUNG FAMILY FUN WITH BRENDA PIELLE

Dear Friends:

This week the videos are talking about feelings. It is so important for us as adults to encourage our children and youth to express their feelings. Often our young people pick up on things going on in the world around them and can carry worries and concerns without us even knowing it.

The Parent-Tot video has the reading of two books: one about feelings and one about being thankful for various types of weather. The songs this week are: The More We Sing Together; ‎It's A Happy Day; If You're Happy and You Know It; and Thank You God.

The Family Fun video has the reading of a book called "Happy"‎ by Pharrel Williams, the RAP artist. The songs are: Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow; This is the Day that God Has Made; Abilene; Feelin' Groovy; and Don't Worry Be Happy.

Perhaps these books and songs can provide a starting place for more discussions in your home about feelings.

Sincerely,

Brenda Pielle

For Forty Days and Nights

According to Christian literature, Jesus withdrew into the desert for 40 days to fast and pray, and during this time, he faced various temptations. It is believed that this period of solitude and self-reflection allowed him to deepen his connection with God and gain a clearer understanding of his purpose and mission.

Through his time in the desert, Jesus experienced a transformation, emerging stronger in his faith and conviction. He gained a deeper understanding of the challenges he would face in his ministry and the sacrifices he would have to make.

During his time in the desert, Jesus realized his true identity as the Son of God, and gained clarity on the mission that lay before him. He realized that he was called to proclaim the good news of God's love and mercy, to heal the sick and the brokenhearted, and ultimately, to offer himself as a sacrifice for the forgiveness of humanity's ignorance.

Jesus' time in the desert was a profound and transformative experience that allowed him to gain a deeper understanding of his true Self, his oneness with God, and his purpose on Earth.

May we be inspired in our hearts to receive the same insights in our own life.

POEM • LENCTEN DOVE

Springtime brings a season of change,

A time for growth, a time to arrange.

The earth awakens, the flowers bloom,

And in the midst, a sacred room.

For Lent has come, a time to prepare,

A time for reflection, a time to repair.

Forty days of fasting, prayer, and giving,

A chance to renew, a chance for living.

From Old English, the name was born,

"Lent" they called it, a season forlorn.

But in this sorrow, we find inspiration,

With God’s support, and life’s celebration.

In the early church, the practice begins,

A time to purify, the soul within.

And still, we follow this ancient way,

To grow in faith, day by day.

So let us embrace this sacred time,

With open hearts, and spirits that chime.

May Lent bring us closer to God’s inner love,

And fill our hearts with peace of the dove.

Renew Your Devotion to the Higher Power

Prayer

Oh Lord,

Please help me this day. Give me eyes to see how you are at work in every one of my circumstances. Lord, give me perseverance to increase my understanding of you. Give me a hunger to read your Word and to seek to know you more each day. Just as the dawn comes with its exact precision, help me to trust that You will also move in my life, in your perfect timing and in your beautiful way. In your name I pray.

Amen
