Kids Summer Day Camp

KIDS AGES: 5 TO 11 YEARS
FROM 9AM TO 3PM
Dear Families: Thank you for being part of our Summer Day camp this year! We are really looking forward to spending time with your children. I am writing to provide you with some details about the program.
The camp will start at 9:00 am and end at 3:00 pm each day. Snacks will be provided in the morning and afternoon. The camp will take place in our upstairs hall called, Trinity Hall. The easiest door to enter and find the room is located at the corner of Crofton and Michigan streets. There will be three young adult leaders coming over from Vancouver Island to facilitate the day camp program, as well as two teen leaders from Powell River who will be assisting with the activities. At this time there are twelve children registered for the camp, with the possibility of more still to come. Registration is still open if anyone you know is inquiring.
Each day, through drama, storytelling, arts and crafts, games and quiet times, children will explore one of the stories that Jesus told and learn about living God’s love in the world. The focus for the days are as follows:
Monday: WELCOME! “I am a blessed child of God.”
Tuesday: LOVE! “I am called to love God, love myself, and love others”
Wednesday: CARE! “God always cares about me.”
Thursday: GROW! “I can help God’s love to grow in me”
Friday: SHARE! “I can share God’s love in my community and the world.”
Things your children should bring to camp each day: Packed lunch and refillable water bottle, Hat and sunscreen (or long-sleeved shirt) Running shoes for outside games and activities Medications and/or allergy treatment (such as, Epi-pens). Please send only the proper dosage of any medications.
Things to leave at home: Electronic devices (phones, iPods, iPads, gaming devices etc.) Special toys or items (these could become lost or broken)
Campers should bring their belongings in a backpack, labelled with their name. It would be helpful if other belongings could be labelled as well, such as, lunch dishes, jackets, and hats. Campers should wear play clothes as we will sometimes be outside and also crafting with glue, paint, and sparkles!
Registration fees can be paid on the first day of camp. If you are paying by cheque, please make it payable to Powell River United Church.
You are invited to join us for an evening of games and snacks on Sunday July 14th at 6:30pm – come for some “Family Fun in the Park” at Willingdon Beach. This will give your child(ren) a chance to meet others who will be attending the day camp. This is an open event for families so feel free to bring friends.
