Good Afternoon
For those of you who remember, last year we had our first annual “Everyone Deserves A Smile” campaign.
And within a month and the help of community organizations and schools, we were able to put together a total of 180 gift bags for the homeless. It truly was a great success. This is a Christmas gift giving endeavour.
I am thinking now would be a good time for all you knitters to begin knitting for men and women partially wool socks, mittens and scarves. The rest of us can start purchasing extra toothpaste, toothbrushes, soaps, shampoo, and sanitary napkins. These items can be set aside until we come together again.
This is a long holiday weekend, so I will take Monday off. I invite you to create a prayer of the day.
If you plan to join in Sunday Service, please follow the link found on the Powell River United Church website.
Keep safe, Keep connected.
Blessings and the strength of Love be with you.

Deuteronomy 15:7-9
When you happen on someone who’s in trouble or needs help among your people with whom you live in this land that God, your God, is giving you, don’t look the other way pretending you don’t see them. Don’t keep a tight grip on your purse. No. Look at them, open your purse, lend whatever and as much as they need. Don’t count the cost. Don’t listen to that selfish voice saying, “It’s almost the seventh year, the year of All-Debts-Are-Cancelled,” and turn aside and leave your needy neighbour in the lurch, refusing to help.
Prayer Of The Day
Giving Creator
We only have to go for a walk or look out our window
to witness the abundance we have been gifted.
Many in this world struggle to get enough sustenance to maintain a healthy life.
Help us to see those in our community who are considered invisible. Open our eyes to those who are in need.
May we allow Love to pour from our hearts as we reach out to help our sisters and brothers who are suffering.
This we ask in the name of the One who gave all He could.
Amen.
