Spiritually Fortified

Message and Prayer of the Day from Rev. Mary White

Good Afternoon and Blessings

While spending most of our time safely at home, for me the days seem to go by much quicker. But there is enough time for cleaning. As I cleaned out closets and dresser drawers, my spirit was raised. Raised, because I found tucked among my favorite things a list about my oldest daughter, Kendra. On September 19, 2003, when she was 10 years old, I asked her to write a list of words that describe herself. She made a list of 18 which included: kind, forgiving, loveable, sharer, thankful, smart, caring, etc.. Without coaching, all Kendra’s words were positive. I wondered at the time, why can’t we all continue throughout our life to be that spiritually fortified and confident? Somewhere along life’s path, we lose our child like truth about ourselves and become “adults”.

Keep safe, Keep connected.

Blessings and the strength of Love be with you.

2 Corinthians 4:7-12

If you only look at us, you might well miss the brightness. We carry this precious Message around in the unadorned clay pots of our ordinary lives. That’s to prevent anyone from confusing God’s incomparable power with us. As it is, there’s not much chance of that. You know for yourselves that we’re not much to look at. We’ve been surrounded and battered by troubles, but we’re not demoralized; we’re not sure what to do, but we know that God knows what to do; we’ve been spiritually terrorized, but God hasn’t left our side; we’ve been thrown down, but we haven’t broken. What they did to Jesus, they do to us—trial and torture, mockery and murder; what Jesus did among them, he does in us—he lives! Our lives are at constant risk for Jesus’ sake, which makes Jesus’ life all the more evident in us. While we’re going through the worst, you’re getting in on the best!

Prayer Of The Day

Caring Spirit

You were with the Apostles as they went out to spread the lessons of Jesus. When faced with and battered by troubles, you were there to fortify them so they could continue their mission. At times when we feel battered by troubles, be with us in our need to be fortified.  Through You, we know the strength and power of Love. Raise our spirits to a level that helps us endure that which we find disheartening.

This we pray in the name of the One who reinvigorates and who is forever comforting.

Amen.
