Bread of Life

Good Evening and Blessings

I want to remind you that Sunday July 19 is Communion Sunday. Hopefully you have or plan to get supplies together to make bread or remember to purchase bread and don’t forget juice/wine. I have dough in the oven on the first rise and am excited to see and taste the end results. The smell of fresh baked bread brings back childhood memories of my mother’s kitchen. I wonder if baking bread is a skill that is being lost on new generations or are we remembering to provide similar lessons and experiences for our youth?

Proverbs 9:1-6

Lady Wisdom Gives a Dinner Party] Lady Wisdom has built and furnished her home; it’s supported by seven hewn timbers. The banquet meal is ready to be served: lamb roasted, wine poured out, table set with silver and flowers. Having dismissed her serving maids, Lady Wisdom goes to town, stands in a prominent place, and invites everyone within sound of her voice: “Are you confused about life, don’t know what’s going on? Come with me, oh come, have dinner with me! I’ve prepared a wonderful spread—fresh-baked bread, roast lamb, carefully selected wines. Leave your impoverished confusion and live! Walk up the street to a life with meaning.”

Prayer Of The Day

Bread of Life,

through your wisdom, and through countless generations you continue to bring many into the Light. We give thanks for all we have learned and continue to learn. As you feed us, Bread of Life, may you live on within us so we can share and serve with love. We pray this in Your name.

Amen.
