Living Light

Daily Message and Prayer from Rev. Mary White

Good Afternoon and Blessings

Here is another glorious summer day that reminds us that we have so much life abundantly surrounding us.

As I drive around delivering the weekly newsletters to those without internet, I notice the beautiful gardens and well-groomed yards throughout Powell River.

It came to mind this past week that it would lift our spirits if we drove around to look at the various colourful flora that graces our summer seasoned neighbourhoods. This would be similar to viewing the Christmas lights during the Christmas Season. And why not look for the Light in the gift of creation?

Blessings and the strength of Love be with you.

John 8:12-16 (TLB)

Later, in one of his talks, Jesus said to the people, “I am the Light of the world. So if you follow me, you won’t be stumbling through the darkness, for living light will flood your path.”

The Pharisees replied, “You are boasting—and lying!”

Jesus told them, “These claims are true even though I make them concerning myself. For I know where I came from and where I am going, but you don’t know this about me. You pass judgment on me without knowing the facts. I am not judging you now; but if I were, it would be an absolutely correct judgment in every respect, for I have with me God who sent me.

Prayer of the Day

Gentle Jesus:

In your calm and peaceful way, You courageously faced every challenge that confronted You. Through Your generous teachings, You lighten our paths making our life challenges easier to encounter. Blow your Spirit around and through us as our wilderness journey continues to challenge our lives. Bring us hope in knowing that we have God with us.

This we pray in the wisdom that you remain our Light.

Amen.
