Message and Prayer of the Day from Rev. Mary White
Good Afternoon and Blessings
We have all been gifted with special abilities. But I wonder, do we give ourselves credit for these gifts? Do we recognize that we even have gifts? Or, do we compare our own abilities with others’ and therefore coming to the conclusion that our abilities are not good enough?
While working at a job find center with people who had developmental challenges, I met Jimi a young adult who had Downs Syndrome. Jimi’s dream was to someday be a pilot. His favorite thing to do was to visit the airport to watch the planes take off and land. As Jimi was developing job skills, we noticed that when it came to cleaning, he was very precise. Jimi had high expectations for himself and our job was to see that he would at least partly reach his goal. So, we approached the airport administrators and told them some of Jimi’s story. We then asked if we could personally supervise him while he learned on the job janitorial routines. It wasn’t long before Jimi learned the routine, was hired at the airport, and we were able to remove our supervision.
Jimi’s gift of cleaning was shared with great joy because although he was not a pilot, he was surrounded by them and airplanes.
No matter what our given gifts, we are called to share them. And, by doing so, we will be content.
Keep safe, Keep connected.

So, don’t lose a minute in building on what you’ve been given, complementing your basic faith with good character, spiritual understanding, alert discipline, passionate patience, reverent wonder, warm friendliness, and generous love, each dimension fitting into and developing the others. With these qualities active and growing in your lives, no grass will grow under your feet, no day will pass without its reward as you mature in your experience of our Master Jesus. Without these qualities you can’t see what’s right before you, oblivious that your old harmful way of life has been wiped off the books.
Prayer Of The Day
Giver of Gifts,
You have lavished us with abundant opportunities for personal growth. You have lavished us with gifts that are liberating and linger to spiritually embrace us. And we are truly grateful for all we receive.
We now ask that you continue to help us to build on these gifts. Be with each one as we fall into Your Loving ways. Be with each one as we lean on your teachings. Be with each one as we share our gifts with others.
Be with each one we pray in the name of the One gifted to us.
Amen.
