Dance of Surrender

Message of the Day from Rev. Mary White

Good Afternoon and Blessings

Autumn has arrived with Hurricane Teddy raising havoc on this east coast. Having lived through hurricanes in the past, I know the damage that can occur from high tides to fallen trees. So last night, it wasn’t just the high-powered wind that was keeping me awake. The large old oak tree outside my window mostly covered with green leaves was a mammoth concern. Through prayers, and knowing that there was nothing to fear, I was finally able to get some rest.

Keep safe, Keep connected.

Blessings and the strength of Love be with you.

Excerpt from Joyce Rupp’s “The Circle Of Life:”

 Autumn

In this lovely season when the dance of surrender is obvious, we find large spaces left where something beautiful once lived. As one by one the leaves let go, a precious emptiness appears in the trees. The naked beauty of the branches can be seen, the birds’ abandoned nests become visible. The new spaces of emptiness reveal mountain ridges.

At night if you stand beneath a tree and gaze upward,

stars now peer through the branches. This is an important autumn lesson—when certain things fall away, there are other things that can be seen more clearly.

Prayer Of The Day

Spirit Creator

You have blown the winds of Your breath of life throughout the earth and it is very good. We are grateful for all that autumn brings and teaches us about ourselves. Help us to observe all that we need to leave behind, and to harvest the abundance that life holds for our future. May we gather in all the joy, love, compassion, strength, courage, and inner healing that life offers. We ask this in the comfort of the Spirit.

Amen.
