Bearing Fruit

Remaining Faithful Message from Reverend Mary White

Good Afternoon and Blessings,

As we continue in this church Season of Creation, we are made aware of the climate crises that face the earth today.

The David Suzuki Foundation recommends the following ten ways we can help fight climate change:

  • Urge government to take bold, ambitious climate action now

  • Use energy wisely — and save money too!

  • Get charged up with renewables

  • Eat for a climate-stable planet -where possible eat local

  • Start a climate conversation

  • Green your commute

  • Consume less, waste less, enjoy life more

  • Invest in renewables and divest from fossil fuels

  • Mobilize for local climate action

  • Get politically active and vote

We are responsible for the way we treat the earth and we, each one, can make changes.

Stay safe. Stay connected.

Blessings and the strength of Love be with you.

Rev. Mary

Reading • Joel 2:23 (MSG)

Fear not, Earth! Be glad and celebrate! God has done great things. Fear not, wild animals! The fields and meadows are greening up. The trees are bearing fruit again: a bumper crop of fig trees and vines! Children of Zion, celebrate! Be glad in your God who is giving you a teacher to train you how to live right— Teaching, like rain out of heaven, showers of words to refresh and nourish your soul, just as the Creator used to do. And plenty of food for your body—silos full of grain, casks of wine and barrels of olive oil.

Prayer

Creating One

We have been blessed with abundance, and we have taken advantage of the life-giving gifts we have been given. May we recognize the damaging ways we are treating this home we know as Earth. May we focus our attention on cleaning our home and strive to take the earth back to the days of creation.

May we open our hearts to see the good in that which we are aimlessly tearing apart and help us to eliminate the hardship we are creating. We pray this in the Spirit of our Teacher.

Amen
