Within Humanity

Message from Our Minister Reverend Mary White

Good Day and Blessings!

Many people have the impression that those in our time of life are in a state of grief – things are alarming – we grieve the harm done to creation which cannot be corrected quickly.

Young people are aware of what their future encompasses and are losing hope. Most won’t take time to feed their spiritual needs while observing the physical world collapsing. Natural scientists would like to be able to assure us that everything is just fine, that there is no need to worry, and to carry on as usual.

Unfortunately, they can’t.

They look at the results of their research and say: humanity and the planet are in danger and matters are of extreme urgency. We have been warned and are called to put creation and the future of all life on earth at the centre. We can only do this if we all develop right relations within humanity.

With Love,
Rev. Mary White

Dear Parents, Families and Friends,

At this time of year I always have the words to a song in my head that I learned from the Barney the Dinosaur show‎: "It's the season after summer, it's before the winter, it's the fall, it's the fall, it's the fall!"

This week the Parent Tot video has some information about the sand dollar in lieu of a story book. The songs are: Higgledy-Piggledy‎ Bumblebee, A-Z in the kitchen; 1,2,3 Jesus Loves Me; This is the Way; and I Can Feel You Near Me God.

The Family Fun video has a story about a monkey and a kitten being friends as well as the following songs: To Be Alive; Johnny B. Good; Give Me Oil In my Lamp; and Over My Head.

‎Best wishes for this new season with its cooler temperatures and beautiful colours.

Kind Regards,
Brenda Pielle

Reading Romans 15:7 (MSG)

So reach out and welcome one another. Jesus did it; now you do it! Jesus, staying true to God’s purposes, reached out in a special way to the Jewish insiders so that the old ancestral promises would come true for them. As a result, the non-Jewish outsiders have been able to experience mercy and to show appreciation to God. Just think of all the Scriptures that will come true in what we do! For instance: Then I’ll join outsiders in a hymn-sing; I’ll sing to your name! And this one: Outsiders and insiders, rejoice together! And again: People of all nations, celebrate God! All colors and races, give hearty praise! And Isaiah’s word: There’s the root of our ancestor Jesse, breaking through the earth and growing tree tall, Tall enough for everyone everywhere to see and take hope! Oh! May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope!

Poem World Shapers – by Joanne Arnott

Creation stories are lullabies for grown-ups
they remind us of all the possible ways & means
that worlds can be born
& humans come to be
tricksters & goddesses
fire & water
the one god, or all of the gods
working as a team
worldmakers
worldshakers
worldbreakers
there is no end to the doing & the undoing
of our creators
they have imagined us over & over & over
recreating us & recreating our world on a whim
there is no end to us, humans, either
we keep re-inventing the cosmos & fighting
one anothers’ visions
with killing hands
we have our feast times
& our fast times
our celebrations & our long days & nights
of lament
& yet we are not powerless, we adults,
we humans we reinvent,
we shape and reshape
the world, every single day

PRAYER

Creating Spirit

Breath of Life

We have been born with the ability to accept others with compassion, joy, empathy, and Love. May we experience life together with a mindset of kinship for friend and stranger. Let no one feel like an outsider or unwanted.  Working together may we reclaim our stewardship status over all the earth and focus on healing the harm we have caused. May we be respectful of all living species and serve with Love.

Amen
