Message from Our Minister Reverend Mary White
Many years ago, I was accused of being involved in a conspiracy to take over the board of directors for whom I worked. My manager called me into his office and told me I was fired because I was out having lunch with a couple of friends who he believed was in on the conspiracy. I held in my disbelief that someone could believe that I would even consider such a deceptive act. How could anyone have such an opinion of me? Wasn’t I loyal and dedicated to the organization?
I was feeling hurt for some time over this outrageous accusation. It wasn’t until I expressed my concerns to friends and family that I was believed and reassured by those who know and love me. The positive that came from this was several months later when the manager admitted to me that he made a mistake and apologized.
I also learned that it is best to express myself rather than wallow in self-shame that has no basis.
With Love,
Rev. Mary

Dear Friends:
Halloween is upon us and it can be a time when we enjoy some spooky pranks and the fun of scaring each other. It is important to remember that some children and youth might be experiencing worries or anxiety, and be feeling truly afraid of activities that others might not be bothered about. It is so helpful when we as parents check in with our young people and make sure they are always feeling safe, secure, and loved.
The Parent Tot video has a Llama, Llama story about Halloween, and a story about worries as well as these songs: I Love My Mom, I Love My Dad; Five Little Pumpkins; Itsy Bitsy Spider; The Pumpkins on the Bus; The People on the Bus.
The Family Fun video has a lengthy story that is all in rhyme called, "Gunhilde and the Halloween Spell" and just two songs this week: Hey Brother I'm a Happy Kid, and I'm Gonna Shout.
Warm Regards,
Brenda Pielle

Ask yourself each day, “What remains unexpressed within me?” All that is good and unique in you should be brought out. If you do not do this, you will be stunted. Never hold back, thinking that you will wait for a better time. The good in you is like the water in a well: The more you draw from it, the more fresh water will seep in. If you do not draw from it, the water will only become stagnant. What is dark, perhaps even evil, inside you must be expressed in a proper way too. Lust, hatred, cruelty, and resentment—these must all be carefully taken out of yourself, like finding a bomb and taking it to be detonated harmlessly. Your heart may be quite a mine field, but you must persevere in clearing it if you are to plant crops and frolic without concern. Ask yourself each day, “What remains unexpressed within me?” Unless you can express it, you will not clarify your inner nature.

Poem ~ Day 27
From “Power for Life: Inspirational Guidance for Daily Living”

God, how would you have me be in the world today?
Be a jewel.
Be beautiful in all you do and say.
Be of great value, and offer value in all interactions.
Dazzle! Sparkle! Shine!
Hold light within the core of your being so that your beauty and love shine from the inside out.
Remember the divine ground from which you come, and remember that it has given you the qualities you possess.
Use them with grace, appreciation, and humility.
Use them with power, confidence, and purpose.
Yes… be a jewel in the world today.
Glimmer with my holy and sacred brilliance, and add beauty wherever you are.
Yes… be a precious gem today.
Dazzle! Sparkle! Shine!

From “Field of Compassion” by Judy Cannato
Incomprehensible Creating Mystery,
So often I am blind to your self-communication. So often I fail to see your love that is in plain view. Help me to see. Release me from my inattentional blindness and allow me to truly see what is before me. May I release myself and others from judgment, and may I discover in the silence who I am in you and who you are in me. Enable me to grow into a maturity that embraces the world and participates co-creatively in the life of the world. May all creation benefit from my practice of meditation.
Amen
