Serve All People With Love

Good Day and Blessings

We as church are blessed to have so many skilled and talented members who with willing hearts share their gifts. Know that you are very much appreciated.

It is always good to come home to church family feeling relaxed and ready to begin anew. But, given the condition of our world, our country and our communities, it is difficult to let go and relax.

June is National Indigenous History Month and should be a time to celebrate and honour the unique culture and spirit of our sisters and brothers of the First Nations. But it is with heavy hearts that we are reminded of the injustices we as a society continually try to diminish their spirit.

Hate laws can be implemented but unless we change our mindset from the core of our being, from our heart, then injustices will continue. Government can change laws but it is unable to change hearts. As followers of Christ, it is up to all of us to speak for the Chantel Moores and the Rodney Levis of this country. Racism is not just an American problem, it is a Canadian problem. We are called to “pull up and tear down” and then “build up and plant” new ways of being together, to Serve with Love.

Jeremiah 1:4-10   (ERV)

God Calls Jeremiah • God’s message came to me:

“Before I made you in your mother’s womb, I knew you. Before you were born. I chose you for a special work. I chose you to be a prophet to the nations.” Then I said, “But, God, I don’t know how to speak. I am only a boy.” But God said to me, “Don’t say, ‘I am only a boy.’ You must go everywhere I send you and say everything I tell you to say. Don’t be afraid of anyone. I am with you, and I will protect you.” Then God reached out, touched my mouth and said to me, “Jeremiah, I am putting my words in your mouth. Today I have put you in charge of nations and kingdoms. You will pull up and tear down. You will destroy and overthrow. You will build up and plant.”

PRAYER OF THE DAY

Gracious Creator

You have born us with pure hearts filled with loving kindness for all creation. But we learn to forget your generosity and allow our will to overcome us. Help us to be like children again, to open up our hearts so that we can walk in solidarity beside our brothers and sisters who are suffering with grief from too many loses. We pray this in the way of Christ’s teachings. Amen
