Gratitude & Hope

Daily Message and Prayer from Rev. Mary White

Good Afternoon and Blessings

Last evening a Northern Flicker flew into our window and fell to earth very much stunned. We searched the internet to find answers on aftercare for the hurting bird. We took the advice of one site that made the most sense—do not disturb it and if the bird does not recover in two to three hours call the local wildlife organization.

During those two hours, I continued to look out the window searching for signs of hope in some movements. The little creature would occasionally move her head or shake a wing. I never lost hope as I prayed for her to recover and fly away. But after two hours, she seemed to not be moving at all, so we called Merrilee Prior at Powell River Orphaned Wildlife Society. She came within twenty minutes carrying a small container. The Flicker fluttered when Merrilee picked her up and the almost hopeless situation turned into gratitude and hope. We are grateful for people like Marilee who share their gift of healing. We wait in hope for a positive recovery.

Keep safe, Keep connected.

Blessings and the strength of Love be with you.

Romans 4:19-25

Abraham didn’t focus on his own impotence and say, “It’s hopeless. This hundred-year-old body could never father a child.” Nor did he survey Sarah’s decades of infertility and give up. He didn’t tiptoe around God’s promise asking cautiously skeptical questions. He plunged into the promise and came up strong, ready for God, sure that God would make good on what was said. That’s why it is said, “Abraham was declared fit before God by trusting God to set him right.” But it’s not just Abraham; it’s also us! The same thing gets said about us when we embrace and believe the One who brought Jesus to life when the conditions were equally hopeless. The sacrificed Jesus made us fit for God, set us right with God.

Prayer Of The Day

Embracing Spirit

There are occasions when we feel that the struggles of life can so easily take away our hope.

When faced with what seems to be hopeless situations, we are ready to accept that these circumstances will not last forever.

We ask for and trust in Your embracing support. We pray that You remain with us to lead us through the most challenging of life experiences. We pray this in the Spirit of Christ.

Amen.
