Surrounded By Love

Daily Message and Prayer from Rev. Mary White

Good Day and Blessings.

I find it difficult to comprehend living in our current world situation and not having a Higher Power surrounding me with Love.

It reassures me knowing that I can be at peace in the embrace of a comforting Spirit that will take hold of my worries freeing me to continue serving with love.

Many are leaving their faith or never had faith in anything, replacing it with material longings, thinking that will fulfill the empty need within. But when outside the shops, on whom will they place their worries? Who will carry their heavy burdens when faced with challenges too much to tolerate?

Without being acknowledged, the Spirit is with and within all people, no matter what their belief or non-belief. We humans are all Children of God.

We are never left alone; we live in God’s realm; who is Creator and creating.

Matthew 6:24-27 (NIV)

No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Do not worry.

Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your Holy Creator feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

POEM • Excerpt from “The Selected Poems of Wendell Berry”

In a time that breaks in cutting pieces all around, when men, voiceless against thing-ridden men, set themselves on fire, it seems too difficult and rare to think of the life of a man grown whole in the world, at peace and in place.

But having thought of it, I am beyond the time, I might have sold my hands or sold my voice and mind to the arguments of power that go blind against what they would destroy.

Prayer of the Day

Comforting One,

More than ever before in our lives, we need the grace of Your presence.

Given the worldly encounters that daily confront us, it is difficult for some not to be in the persistent instability of worry. There is too much to take in, too much that is out of our control and too many unexpected changes. Help us to breathe in Your comforting Spirit and to breathe out our worries.

In our vulnerable moments, open our awareness and hearts to recognize Your presence surrounding us.

Keep us refreshed knowing that you are constantly with and within us. We pray this in the name of the Christ who put His worries in Your capable essence.

Amen
