Message from Light of God Ministry • Reverend Mary White
Good Day and Blessings!
As a young woman starting out in the workforce, I recall how I dreaded working on Saturday. It seemed that people with the “prominent” positions had weekends off. And then there was Monday’s reputation of being the worst day of the week. It felt as though no one wanted to begin their work week. Some of the struggle may be that our labour is not an aspiration that we are able to accept. If we follow our calling, our deep desire that fulfills our mind, body, and soul then days of the week will become insignificant. And as time educates us to appreciate that all employment is an important foundation for community, we can fully embrace each day worked and the responsibilities that are entrusted to us. When we are fully involved in our task, the embodiment of our mind, body, and soul will be achieved.
With Love

You’re Invited for Tea
Have you been missing your church family and friends? Us too!
Now that the Covid restrictions are easing up, we can do what we used to consider normal… visit one another! What could be more fun than having little tea parties to catch up with friends?!
The tea parties will be small (4 people maximum). If you think this would be fun… you could choose to be a host, or a guest (or both)!!
Guests will bring tea and a few goodies, hosts will provide the tea cups and boiling water.
If interested, please contact either:
Marilynn Davis at 604-487-9543
or Lynn McCann at 604-485-0193To tell us if you would enjoy being a host or a guest!
Reading Excerpt
From Seven Sacred Pauses by Macrina Wiederkehr
We belong to this earth, and the work we do is ultimately for the purpose of making our world a better place in which to live. When we begin our day, most of us probably do not approach our work with the awareness and belief that we are artists involved in continuing the work of creation. From the most sublime to the most menial, work is creativity. If we could truly believe this, many things might change in our workplaces and in our world at large. It is not necessarily our work that is the problem; perhaps it is our inability to be a loving companion to our work.
The Lebanese-American poet Kahlil Gibran suggests that our work is our love made visible. The way we approach our work is vital to our happiness and the good we are going to be able to do as artists and co-creators with God. The attitude with which we approach our work determines whether or not our work will become a love made visible.

Flea Market and Fundraising Event • Saturday May 14th
Are you spring cleaning, and don’t know what to do with your gently used treasures that need a new home?
If you wish to sell your items, you will be able to rent a table for $10.
The church will appreciate any of the proceeds you wish to donate from your sales.
Set-up is on Friday May 13th, and as at a flea market, each person would look after their own table and take home any items left over at the end of the day.
Please contact Marilynn at 604-487-9543 to book your table for May 14th.
(If the number of people applying is greater than the available tables, we will consider having another Flea Market at a later date).

Excerpt from Rilke's Book of Hours: Love Poems to God
You see, I want a lot.
Maybe I want it all: the darkness of each endless fall, the shimmering light of each ascent.
So many are alive who don’t seem to care.
Casual, easy, they move in the world as though untouched.
But you take pleasure in the faces of those who know they thirst.
You cherish those who grip you for survival.
You are not dead yet, it’s not too late to open your depths by plunging into them and drink in the life that reveals itself quietly there.
– Translated by Anita Barrows
Coffee with a Twist following Church will be start this Sunday!
The twist for our social gathering is that Trinity Hall is the gathering spot, but each congregational member will provide their own beverage and snack if they want one.
We are in the process of preparing the kitchen and gatherings volunteers as we move forward to ensure a sustainable coffee social system is in place.
Please contact Doe if you are interested in helping. For the time we are looking for groups of 2 people for each Sunday morning.

Life Guiding Teacher
You are the Light, the Way and our supreme Teacher and we are grateful to have learned so many life lessons from You. Bless all who teach and keep them in your warm loving embrace. Help us to live by your teachings and to recognize that although we all have different skills to contribute, we are all equally important. May we have patience when asked to share our knowledge with others and may we listen with attentive care when those with different skills are teaching us. As life-long learners, we pray in Your name.
Amen
